UNE chief operating officer, Peter Enlund.STAFF at the UNE Printery look set to lose their jobs if management can find a buyer for the operation.
The university is believed to consider the Printery as an unsustainable service and has sought expressions of interest.
The Printery failed to make a profit last year and has been described by management as a “struggling” operation.
But the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) has denied the claims, arguing the Printery is still financially viable.
The NTEU has called for the UNE to offer an explanation and accused management of not making sense.
UNE chief operating officer Peter Enlund could not offer any guarantees over the Printery staff’s future employment.
He told The Express it was impossible to speculate on the possible outcome of a potential sale.
