A team of 16 players travelled to Wee Waa to take to the field in both reserve and first grade.

Saturday’s games saw Demon Knights’ players playing almost 180 minutes of football.

Wee Waa were also short a number of players but played strongly in the first half.

By half-time, Wee Waa had only let Demon Knights away with two goals.

However, an undisciplined Wee Waa side took the field in the second half and Demon Knights’ Dave Farmer said they were able to capitalise on it.

“Two players from Wee Waa were sent off in the second half and this opened up a lot of opportunities for us,” he said.

In recent weeks, Demon Knights have been working on their fitness to be able to play a full 80-minute game with little fatigue.

Saturday’s games against Wee Waa proved that, despite their slow start to the season, they now have some serious momentum.

“It has taken us a while to get going this season, but Saturday’s games showed that 12 or 13 of us have the fitness to play two games of football back-to-back, and play well,” Farmer said.

“It is something that we have been working on and Saturday really lifted our confidence as we head towards the business end of the season .”

Demon Knights will now head to Glen Innes.

The last time the two sides met it was a 3-all draw and Demon Knights want to come away with a convincing win.

“We have had some good results and we want to capitalise on our current form and come away with a win this weekend,” Farmer said.
