Rams’ player Harrison Dickson holds off Tenterfield to score last weekend.AFTER last week’s win over Tenterfield, the Rams will head to Inverell to play the Hawks for the second time this season.
The Rams beat Inverell 35-14 when they last played, but Rams player-coach Brian Dennison said they have their work cut out for them this weekend.
“Inverell are known for getting points on the score board quickly and we need to stop that early on in the game,” he said.
Despite a number of wins this season, the Rams tend to have a lacklustre start in games.
“The last few weeks we seem to have lost our spark and it takes us a fair while to get moving in the first half,” Dennison said.
“We need to turn up to play from the moment the whistle goes if we want to contain the Hawks.”
This season the Rams have suffered a number of injuries, which has caused some disruption to the team.
But this Saturday Adrian Morris and Coorin Campbell will step up from reserve grade and will be the key to victory over Inverell.
“Both Morris and Campbell are really quick on the field and they have been big hitters in reserve grade,” he said.
“They are known for scoring a number of tries in games and we need players like that this weekend.”
As the Rams continue their campaign into the second half of the season, there is now an extra push to win against the Hawks.
“We are sitting in fourth, with Moree hot on our tails,” Dennison said.
“We need to win against Inverell who are sitting in second place, to keep us in contention for the semis.”
