Wallabies’ coach Andrew Blade with TAS students in May.ARMIDALE is set to host stars of Australian rugby union as part of the Qantas Wallabies Towns initiative on July 31.
The initiative will see some members of the Australian team head to the region to visit schools and local rugby clubs.
Details of the team’s visit to Armidale are yet to be finalised, but injured Wallaby Pat McCutcheon said the team enjoy heading to regional areas of the country.
“Being able to spend time with kids, talking to them, imparting a bit of knowledge, passing on tips and skills is great,” he said.
The New England region has produced a number of Wallabies over the years including Sam Payne, James Holbeck and Joe Roff who all attended The Armidale School (TAS).
TAS rugby last played host to the Wallabies in May when Australia’s forwards coach Andrew Blade visited the school as part of the primary schools rugby carnival.
