Grenfell Anglican Debutante Ball – Friday May 8, 2012

Fifteen young ladies and their partners was the centre of attention at the 2012 Anglican Debutante Ball held at the Grenfell Bowling Club on Friday May 18.

They were presented to the Assistant Bishop of Bathurst and soon to be installed as Bishop of Willochra Diocese in South Australia Bishop John Stead.

Mrs. Jan Myers compare for the nights proceedings introduced the official party comprising of Bishop and Mrs. John Stead, Rev Thurston Skinner, Deputy Mayor Nevin Hughes and his wife Verona and clergy from the other Grenfell Churches entered the auditorium before the debutants and their partners delighted their family and friends with their first entry to the hall in an “up tempo” presentation. This followed by the more formal and traditional entry of the debutants and their partners

Flower girls Amelia Ingrey daughter of James and Tamara and Niamh Mitton daughter of Peter and Nicola were first to enter the hall.

The girls wore dresses made from cream duchess satin with an organza overlay and featured a mauve sash at the waist.

Matron of Honor Nicola Mitton wore a soft lusted satin A-line dress in a pewter colour. It featured a pleated cross over bodice with a wrap belt that tied at the back and finished with a diamante brooch.

Alicia Walsh and Tiara DeValk cut the cake on behalf of the debutantes which was made by Mrs Enid Johnson and decorated by Mrs Judy Mitton. The cake was beautifully decorated with yellow, hot pink and mauve flowers the same as the debutants bouquets. The same colours were used to brightly decorate the hall.

Georgia Robinson, Elly Oliver, Rachael McKellar and Danielle Smith then came forward to say a few words of thanks on behalf of the debutants. After the Debutants and their partners danced their formal dance the Lilac Waltz the ball continued into the early hours of the morning to the music by Risky Business.

Natalie Smith: Natalie is the daughter of Leonard and Helen Smith wore a white chiffon full length gown featuring a pleated cross-over bodice, and a fitted midrift band embellished with beaded ribbon lace motifs. The full length skirt is softly gathered at the waist. Natalie’s gown was made by Delia Lennane.

And she was partnered by Ian Bernard son of Robby and Lisa

Elly Oliver: Elly designed her own strapless gown which is accentuated by soft lines in a sweetheart styling. Sheer chiffon has been draped around the gown’s bodice to create a wrapping effect. Dainty pearl buttons highlight the centre back and volumes of translucent chiffon adorn the floor length skirt. Her outfit was complimented by satin covered ‘Wittner’ shoes and ‘Ellani’ pearl drop earrings. Elly is the daughter of Margo and Greg Oliver and was partnered by Matthew Butler son of Michael and Vicki

Rebecca Brearey: Rebecca is the daughter of Cliff and Sharron Brearey and was partnered by Jordan Bennett son of Mark and Michelle

Rebecca wore a high waisted gown with a gathered bodice and shirring in the back. It features a left shoulder strap with rose and fabric strips in the same fabric as the gown. The over-skirt is tiered.

Georgia Robinson: Georgia’s dress is a one shouldered design with a chiffon overlay, ruched bodice and an asymmetrical chiffon drape. It is finished off with a diamante brooch. Georgia the daughter of Andrew and Donna Robinson was partnered by Bill Dinham, son of David and Alison

Danielle Smith: Danielle is the daughter of Daryl and Julie Smith. Her gown featured a satin sweetheart neckline with fine straps. It has vertical pleats over the bodice and through the waistline. It also features self-made fabric flowers and buttons down the centre back. Danielle was partnered by Toby Anderson son of John and Margaret.

Stefanie Reid: Stefanie wore a full length satin, short sleeved gown which featured a lace bodice. She complimented the dress with full length gloves and a flower arranged headpiece. Stefanie is the daughter of Wayne and Granddaughter of Norma, her partner was Joshua Knight son of Terry and Rebecca

Vanessa Dawes: Daughter of Robert and Julie Dawes, Vanessa wore an elegant custom made V-neck satin chiffon gown. It featured shoe-string straps and diamantes on the bodice and on the side of the full length skit. Vanessa was partnered by Todd Matthews, son of Fred and Carolyn.

Alicia Walsh: Alicia chose a full length halter neck gown which featured chiffon over satin. The bodice being decorated with a pleated double cross-over scattered with sequins. Alicia’s parents are David and Leanne Walsh and her partner was Nathan Heatley, son of Stephan and Linda Heatley

Emma Shaw: Emma the daughter of Warren and Carolyn Shaw chose a glamorous Grecian inspired gown. The asymmetrical, one shouldered design has been crafted from gossamer stretch chiffon and a satin fabric. The bodice featured striking twisted pleating detail and ruched shoulder strap. The gown’s long-line skirt is finished by a soft chiffon drape at the front. Brent Logan the son of Paul and Cathie was Emma’s partner

Danica Perceval: Danica chose a satin, A-line gown with a V-neck and fine straps, an overlay through the waistline, over the hips and skirt. Embroidery featured over the bodice, through the waist and down the skirt overlay. Danica is the daughter Melissa Perceval and her partner was Ben Causer son of Chris and Jillian

Elizabeth Arentsen: Elizabeth the daughter of Alex and Virginia Arentsen looked elegant in her ivory gown with a pleated strapless bodice. The mermaid silhouette of the gown flows into a ruch skirt that featured a softly gathered rose which has been fashioned from the gown’s fabric Elizabeth was partnered by Daniel Brown son of David and Leoni

Rachael McKellar: Curtis son of Warren and Lisa Schaefer partnered Rachael McKellar daughter of Brett and Tracey. Rachael chose a classic empire line gown of luster satin and organza. A satin midline band and satin halter neck straps provided contrast to the bias cut underskirt and gathered overskirt. The gown is finished with crystal and silver beading on the midline band which matches the motif on Rachael’s hair piece. Rachael’s dress was created by her neighbour and loved friend, Angela Hunter.

Rachel Hunt: Rachel looked a picture of elegance in her white satin gown with single, beaded shoulder straps. It featured a sweetheart neckline with fitted bodice and soft ruching and a lace-up back through roulette loops. The soft fluted skirt is detailed with fine beading. Rachel is the daughter of Donna and Andrew Hersant and on the night was partnered by Walter Clapham son of Russell and Anita

Chantelle DeValk: Chantelle is the eldest daughter of Leo and Lence DeValk. Chantelle wore an empire line dutchess satin dress which featured a ruched bodice and delicately beaded diagonal shoulder strap. She completed her outfit with a tiara and earrings to complement the gown. Chantelle was partnered by Dylan Noble, son of Lyle Noble and Rhonda Kubecek.

Tiara DeValk: Tiara is the second daughter or Leo and Lence DeValk and was partnered by Andrew Parsons, son of Shane and Christine. Tiara chose a strapless Grecian style gown. The bodice embellished with silver beading work. Matching tiara and earrings complimented her outfit.
