On Wednesday evening June 6 The Grenfell Bowling Club team of George Dumbrell, Rodney O’Neill, Brendan McAlister, Richard Hasler, Steve Galvin, Andrew Brown, Brad Galvin and Tim Fowler challenged the Railway Hotel in a high scoring encounter.
Tony Fenech, Dave Thiel, Lain Thiel, Inky Armstrong, Barry Bradtke, Jeff Gardner, Terry Knight and Murray Logan made up the team for the Railway.
Although the Railway won the contest six games to two, all games were close going down to the wire.
The Railway won the first game in 301 with Tony and Dave (X5) defeating George and Rodney.
Brendan (X6) and Richard hit back to put the Bowly on the board with a win over Lain and Inky.
Steve (X1) and Andrew followed suit to put the Bowling Club in front when they defeated Barry and Jeff.
Terry (X1) and Murray evened up the score with a win over Brad and Tim.
The Railway went on to win the four games of 501 to retain the cup six games to two.
Dave and Terry both jagged their second double for the night with the other two being scored by Inky and Barry.
Top scorer for the Bowling Club was Brendan with a tonne and a double, followed by George on 96 and 86 and Steve a double and 85 twice.
Inky topped the score For the Railway with 121 and a tonne and he also jagged a double.
Murray scored 121 followed by Terry 95 and a tonne and two doubles, Dave jagged two doubles and Barry one.
This again was a great fun night enjoyed by all and games could have gone either way.
No darts were played Wednesday June 13 owing to State of Origin.
Tonight, June 20 the Albion with a game start will challenge the Railway followed by the Country Club June 27, No darts July 4 (State of Origin), the Criterion Hotel July 11 and Show No Mercy July 18.
