Rotarian Thurston Skinner was inducted as the new Grenfell Rotary President at the club’s Changeover dinner on June 20 for 2012-2013.

The induction was carried out by Past District Governor Bernie Huxtable of Orange, who attended with his wife, Colina.

There was an excellent attendance and Past President Trevor Lobb welcomed everyone in his role as Master of Ceremonies for the evening and kept the function running well on time.

Clubs including Forbes, Boorowa and Young were well represented, as also were local Friends of Rotary, the Grenfell Lions, and Grenfell Probus.

Local woman and professional entertainer, Andrea Ladlow led everyone in a couple of enjoyable sing-along sessions, and provided the music as well.

Outgoing President David Jones gave his report on his highly successful year.

This will be covered separately in The Grenfell Record.

New President Thurston Skinner thanked everyone very much for their attendance, his incoming Board and the membership for what he hopes and believes will be a productive year ahead for the club.

He nominated three areas he is keen to promote in his year: much better awareness in our own community about the Rotary Club of Grenfell; expanding the membership; and our members maximizing their enjoyment of all Rotary activities, including meetings.

Thurston particularly wished to thank Chris Lobb, Dot Schneider and Corrie Drady for their assistance in making the evening a success and so very pleasant, and presented gifts of appreciation to them.

He also thanked the members and wives for their help on the night.

Thurston presented his lovely wife, Jackie, with a beautiful bouquet of roses in anticipation of her tolerance of what is going to be a very busy year ahead for him!

Thurston’s Board of Directors will comprise Past President David Jones; Secretary Sue Armstrong; Assistant Secretary PP Chris Lobb; Treasurer Jim Marden; Community Service Margaret Bradshaw-Jones; President Elect and also Youth Director Jill Hodgson; International Director PP Trevor Lobb; and Club Service (Assisting) PP Jan McLelland.

The winner of the evening’s raffle was none other than the official guest, Past District Governor Bernie Huxtable.
