Ian Jones and Graham Eppelstun were in great form to take out the top honours of Round 5 of the Men’s No 2 Winter Night Tennis on Tuesday.
Conditions were once again very nippy and there were only just two matches finishing 4 all. Ian and Graham who was filling in for Anthony Wilson won the very good score of 27 games- a very good effort and well played. They lost two sets 3/5, however the other three were won convincibley 7/1.
Next best players for the round were Rod Freudenstein and Arnold Brown who won 25 games. (the social tennis they played last Thursday must of tuned them up) Their sets were 7/1, 3/5, 5/3, 53, 5/3 another fine effort. Steve Bowerman and Hugh Moffitt also played consistent tennis for the night to win 23 games and their sets were 5/3, 4/4, 3/5, 5/3, 6/2.
Stuart McKellar and Murray Mitton battled away in their sets to win 19 games. Sets were 6/2, 5/3, 4/4, 3/5, 1/7 while Charles Harvey and Ken Norrie finished the night winning a total of 16 games.
Good to have back playing tennis with the men was Paul Tognetti who has been off the scene with an injury. Paul played for Grant Fisher and his partner for the round was John Walmsley.
Round 6 of the Men’s Winter Competition will be played next Tuesday night weather permitting.
Another pleasing number of tennis players turned up for a friendly game last Thursday afternoon, June 14. Good to have back on the courts was Arnold Brown who has been resting a health problem. We hope to see more of Arnold in the future. Also back playing tennis was Mick Doyle. Michael and Anne have been touring parts of the North and Central Coast including visiting family at Laurieton.
Social tennis starts around 1.45 pm- where were all the ladies last week!!!.
