New member: At a recent Lions Dinner meeting President Rodney O’Neill had the pleasure of inducting John ‘Sid’ Brand into Lionism.

Sid, son of Lions Noelene and John Brand who were inducted into the Grenfell Lions Club in April was sponsored by his dad John.

Following his induction Lions Sid was welcomed into the Club by members with the traditional ‘Lions Roar’.

Sid, who recently purchased a home in Grenfell with his partner and young family, said he looks forward to serving the community through Lionism and hope to see a lot more young people joining the club.

Festival Queen: All members of the club were very proud of their Queen Entrant Danielle Schneider who was crowned Festival Queen at the concert on Friday evening June 8.

As well as being crowned Festival Queen, Danielle and the Club raised the fantastic amount of $10,800 of which the Festival received 15%.

This amount does not include the Gold Sponsorship of $1350 donated by the Grenfell Lions Club to assist with the general running of the Festival, an Art Prize and the Woodchops.

Danielle and the Lions Club wish to thank the members of the community and the Principal, Staff and Students at St Joseph’s School for their support with fundraising, which included a street stall, various wood raffles, a hot seafood dinner and numerous meat raffles.

The student at St Joseph’s held a very successful cake stall to support their teacher Miss Schneider and also acted as her Queen’s Court in the procession.

Funds raised will go towards a children’s playground to be installed at the Grenfell Railway Station.

Donations: Following a very successful day at the fantastic Pinnacle Guinea Pig Races on the Festival Sunday, the Club has generously donated $200 to their committee.

A donation of $200 has also been made to local Salvation Army for their Red Shield Appeal.

The Lions Mini Lotto Jackpot continues to grow and as of Thursday June 21 had reached $5268, with the five number jackpot standing at $203.

Results are published each Wednesday in the Grenfell Record Classifieds.

Members of the community are advised that all numbers 1-20 are included in the draw.

If you have not tried your luck in this promotion just look for a large yellow box in Reid’s Hardware, Dykhoff’s Bakery, Lyle Walker’s Family Butchery, Caltex Service Station, all Hotels and the Bowling Club. The cost is $1 per game or $2 for the full ticket and all you now have to do is to pick 6 numbers from 1 to 20. The draw is held at 6.30pm approx in each of the participating licensed establishments in rotation every Thursday.

You do not have to leave it until that day to enter as tickets are on top of each box and can be put in any day. Best of luck with your investment in the competition and thank you for supporting the Grenfell Lions Club, who in turn are able to support local charities from funds raised.
