The big rigs were out on the streets in Grenfell last Tuesday morning in a display of heavy vehicles not seen in Grenfell for many a day.
The reason for this show of big boys’ toys was the installation of new power poles and the moving of some critical electrical infrastructure to a more secure location by Essential Energy in order to improve the delivery of electricity to all their customers.
This work was being carried out in the corner area of Camp and Forbes Streets.
In fact two new poles were erected on the day and according to Essential energy spokesperson, Southern manager Steven Illitch, “every effort was made to minimize any inconvenience as a result of the work”.
Mr Illitch explained that it was also necessary for there to be a planned interruption to the power supply on the day, weather permitting, due to the extensive work being carried out.
He also assured all residents that the work was being carried out with the highest safety measures in place to protect the dedicated staff and the vast array of expensive equipment being utilized for the task.
