A keenly contested lineout between Grenfell and Cudal in their first round clash at Grenfell on April 28.The Grenfell Panthers travelled to Cudal to tackle the Cobras for the second time this year.
Cudal seem to grow a third leg playing at home so Grenfell knew that this was not going to be a easy game to win.
The Panthers came out with all guns blazing which has been lacking in previous weeks and it paid off when Charlie crossed the line untouched within the first five minutes Bobso kicked the goal which put Grenfell up 7 nil.
Grenfell did not slow down with the Panthers forwards taking control of the game with excellent set play from the lineouts and scrums which was then followed up by some hard work at the break down.
This soon got the Panthers there second try for the day which was also converted taking Grenfell ahead 14 nil.
From the restart the panthers were in again, this time it was the backs turn after a good lineout win from the forwards the backs run some good lines which allowed Dave to cross out wide taking the score to 19 nil.
With half time closing in Grenfell had time to cross the line once more.
Grenfell won a line out about 15 meters from Cudals line which the big Grenfell pigs drove on and it was Ian who come up with the ball.
This made the half time score 24 nil.
To Cudals credit they were the ones that came out to play footy in the second half pressuring Grenfells line for the first 20 minutes of the second half but the Panthers defense was as solid as a rock not allowing Cudal to cross the line.
Then against the run of play Grenfell were able to run 60 meters and Charlie getting his second of the day.
Bobso converted the try taking the score to 31 nil.
The next 20 minutes went from end to end with both teams making some basic mistakes.
With only a couple of minutes to go Grenfell scored the last try of the day and it was the forwards who rumbled forward.
This time Fred came up with the ball.
This was a well earned win from the boys which has put Grenfell into second spot.
This week we are at home against Canowindra who beat the Panthers in the first round so hopefully the boys can reverse the result this time round.
The Pink Panthers are also at home this week kicking off around 1.30pm and 1st grade starting at 3.15pm.
A lot of support will be needed for both the girls and first grade if they are going to come home with the points.
So come on down and support both the Pink Panthers and first grade and enjoy a pie and cool drink while watching some entertaining rugby.
