The Criterion Hotel team of Ian ‘Butch’ Reid, wandering darters Bill ‘Cud’ Cuddihy, Colleen and Chris ‘Chock’ Handcock, Tom Ashcroft, Clint O’Brien Daniel ‘Fann’ Fanning and Michael ‘Mickey’ Yates was up against Dave ‘Killer’ Thiel, Ian ‘Inky’ Armstrong, Terry ‘White Knight’ Knight, Barry ‘McKenzie’ Bradtke, Jeff ‘Music Man’ Gardner, Greg ‘I Say’ Saye, Cougar ‘the Railway Man’ and Tony ‘Miniechello’ Fenech.

The Railway won the first two games of 301 with ‘Killer’ and ‘Inky’ (X7) defeating ‘Butch’ and ‘Cud’ and ‘White Knight’(X8) and ‘McKenzie’ recording a win over the Handcock team.

The Criterion hit back and won the next two games with Clint (X20) and Tom notching up a win over ‘Music Man’ and ‘I Say’ and ‘Fann’ (X13) and Mickey defeating Cougar and ‘Mini.’

With their game start this put the Criterion in front three games to two after 301.

In 501 ‘Inky’ (X1) recorded his second double for the night and with the help of ‘Killer’ was too strong for ‘Butch’ and ‘Cud’.

The Hancocks reversed their first round loss with Colleen jagging double one to defeat ‘McKenzie’ and ‘White Knight’.

‘I Say’ (X10) and a tonne twice and ‘Music Man’ followed suit with a win over Clint and Tom.

Mini and Cougar (X1) thought if they can do it so can I, evened up the score to five all with a win over Mickey and ‘Fann’.

A very close and exciting game of 501 was played to decide a winner. ‘Butch, ‘Cud’ and the Hancock were up against the inform team of ‘Killer’, ‘Inky’. ‘White Knight’ and ‘McKenzie; with ‘Inky spoiling it for the Criterion with a double 4 to win the game and retain the cup down the bottom end of town.

For the Criterion, Clint, Colleen and ‘Fann’ all jagged a double, with top scorer for the Criterion being ‘Chock’ on 134 and 85, followed by Clint 85, ‘Cud’ 83 and ‘Butch’ on 81.

‘White Knight’ topped the score for the Railway and the night on 140 and jagged one double, closely followed by ‘Inky’ with 139 – he also jagged three doubles and the most important one – the last one.

Greg ‘I Say’ came in next with a double and scored 100 twice.

Tonight, July 18 with a game start Show No Mercy will challenge the Railway in the ‘family fued night, followed Royal Hotel July 25 and the Bowling Club August 1.
