The Show No Mercy team of Sylvia Butcher, Sharon Saye, Laurel Scheimer, Mary Fanning, Lain Thiel, Pam Hutson, Deidre Carroll and Sharyn Bradtke was up against Chock Handcock, Greg Saye, Jeff Gardner, Dave Thiel, Colleen Handcock, Tony Fenech, Terry Knight and Barry Bradtke.

The Railway won the first game of 301 with Chock and Greg (X5) defeating Sylvia and Greg’s wife Sharon Saye to make the score 1 all.

The girls went on to win the next three games of 301 with Laurel (X12) and Mary defeating Jeff and Dave, Pam (X1) and Lain defeating Colleen and Tony and Deidre (X10) and Sharyn Bradtke defeating Terry and Sharyn’s husband Barry.

With their game start the girls now led by 4 games to 1.

As you can imagine, the girls were quite (quiet – not likely) excited at this stage.

Greg (X18) with his second double for the night and Chock showed no mercy against Sharon and Sylvia and won the first game of 501.

Mary(X5) and Laurel followed suit with their second win over Dave and Jeff.

Tony (X7) and Colleen reversed their first round loss with a win over Pam and Lain as did Barry (X6) and Terry over Sharyn and Deidre to bring the score to a respectful five games to four in favour of the girls.

The silence was deadly in 701 with Chock, Greg, Jeff and Dave up against Sylvia, Sharon S, Laurel and Mary.

This game see-sawed with some very high scoring, many oohs and aahs, nail biting, the Railway team feeling the pressure and both teams vying for that elusive double, eventually all Laurel’s practice with ‘Cougar’ the Pizza Man paid off and the Show No Mercy girls defeated the Railway six games to four.

Thank you to Colleen and Chris Handcock who filled in at short notice for the Railway who had a few players unable to play owing to sickness.

Although the Show No Mercy Team has had some very close encounters over many years, this is the fourth time they have actually won the cup.

Top scorer for the Railway was Barry Bradtke on 140 plus one double, Greg Saye jagged two doubles and scored a tonne and 92 followed by Chock on 100 and 98 and Colleen on 89.

All the girls played well for Show No Mercy with Laurel jagging two doubles and the most important one the last one to win the game and a top of 74 twice, Mary scored 85 and 81and jagged a double, Pam scored 88 and one double and Deidre scored 83 and one double.

As the Show No Mercy team is also sponsored by the Railway Hotel, the game tonight July 25 will be played at the Railway with the Royal Hotel being the challengers.

The Bowling Club will challenge on August 1 followed by the Albion Hotel on August 8 and the Country Club August 15.
