More on the 1912 Grenfell Cyclone

This photo was not published with the others last week as it was uncertain as to where and who the wreckage belonged to. Thanks to Ron and Dot Lamkin we are now pretty sure that this is the Hill and Halls yard that was situated on the corner of Forbes and Main Streets in 1912.As a result of last week’s (Wednesday July 18) publication in the Record of old photo’s from the 1912 Grenfell Cyclone further information has come to hand about the old buildings that were wrecked as a result of the storm. Last Friday Ron and Dot Lamkin visited the Record office with some first hand details about some of the buildings shown in the article. Ron – who turns 100 this year – remembers some of the buildings very vividly. Dot also had a story to tell about the Woodhouse cottage in photo 3 in which her family resided in for 28 years. We hope the readers enjoy this trip down memory lane and once again we would like to thank Keith Starr for his kindly lending us the photos.
